First Christian Church grew out of a home Bible study group that held it's first Sunday service on June 27, 1976, at Echols Funeral Home. After meeting in various buildings in the area, our current building was completed in 1988. The building is located on a nine acre plot of land across the street from the Greensville Ruritan Club.
Our most recent blessing was the opening of our doors to the First Christian Academy, a pre-Kindergarten through ninth grade Christian School. Brad Barbour is the Director. School will officially begin on September 8, 2009
Our beliefs are very basic:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Begotten Son of God, born of a Virgin, died for our sins, arose victoriously from the dead, and will return to receive His church for an eternal dwelling with Him and the Father. (John 3:16, I Cor. 15:1-8, Phil. 3:20-21)
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, giving us an acurate account of things past, present and future, and that it reveals God's will to us for our daily life, our hopes for the future, and His plans to redeem fallen mankind. (II Tim. 3:16, Psalm 119:105, John 20:30-31)
We believe that God offers us the forgiveness of sins through obedience to the Gospel of Christ, which includes the need to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He paid for our sins on the cross of Calvary; the need to confess faith in Him; and the need to repent of sin and be buried with Christ in Christian baptism. (II Thess. 1:8, Romans 3:23, 6:23, Romans 10:9-10,Romans 6:1-11 and Acts 2:36-38)
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ here on earth, with special privileges to honour God in our worship, edify those who are saved, and reach out to those who are lost. (Eph. 4:1-16; Matthew 28-18-20; Hebrews 10:23-31)
Our regular gatherings includes the weekly observance of the Lord's Supper, God-honouring praise and worship, sincere prayer, Biblically supported preaching, Bible Study efforts, and care-giving fellowship.
"Casual dress is always welcomed here."
